Campground site offering deep discounts as travelers seek alternatives to flying

With travelers reportedly seeking alternatives to costly flights and complicated itineraries this summer, a new promotional push is offering discounted rates on outdoor accommodations across North America.

The booking platform Campspot launched a weeklong promotional event this week, offering up to 40% off select stays at participating recreational vehicle parks, campgrounds and cabins.

The event, which the company calls its Ready, Set, Summer Sale, runs through Sunday, June 21.

Company officials say the promotion is designed to attract families and first-time campers looking to stretch their travel budgets at “experience-rich campgrounds.”

“Camping has always had this practical magic to it,” said Jeff Bettin, general manager of marketplace at Campspot. “It gives families, road trippers, RVers and first-time campers a way to make summer feel memorable without making travel feel overwhelming.”

Bettin added that travelers can find deals on drive-to getaways and outdoor stays, which the company says people are actively seeking right now.

The booking platform reported that average summer campground rates are $101 per night. A company news release states that many participating parks offer amenities that elevate the experience, such as pools, waterparks, dog parks and on-site restaurants.

The promotion arrives as higher travel costs shape vacation decisions. According to a company survey called the 2026 Dust-Off Summer Trend Report, 79% of surveyed campers said they are actively reducing air travel this year. Furthermore, 60% claimed they are avoiding all flights if possible.

The company cited higher travel costs as the primary disruptor for 68% of respondents. Last month, we highlighted that many Americans were recalibrating their travel expectations due to the soaring costs driven largely by fuel prices.

Campspot data suggests a shift toward practical travel options. In its recent survey, 80% of campers said they have taken a camping trip specifically because they believed it was the “smartest vacation option” available. The report also stated that 58% of respondents are more likely to take a drive-to getaway compared to last year, and 86% expressed active interest in exploring more of the country through road trips and nearby excursions.

Where are the best summer camping deals?

The one-week sale features a variety of accommodations in the United States and Canada, including some favorites chosen by Campspot.

In California, the company is advertising 30% off Sunday through Thursday stays at Sun Outdoors Santa Barbara in Goleta, which a news release notes includes a heated pool and access to hiking. In Florida, travelers can save 40% on weeklong stays at Cabana Bay RV Resort in Placida, a property the company says features oversized paved sites and a resort-style pool.

Additional properties offering 40% discounts include Pipestone RV Park in Whitehall, Montana, which offers full hookup sites near scenic trails and rock formations. In Tennessee, Pigeon Forge RV Resort is advertising similar discounts for its sites located near Great Smoky Mountains National Park. International options include Gold Panner Campground in Cherryville, British Columbia, where the company says guests can stay in cabins or chalets set in a riverside forest.

Company officials noted that deals, eligible stay dates, site types and availability vary by campground. The platform allows users to browse and book the discounted sites directly through its website during the promotional period.

To obtain the booking discounts through Campspot, use the code READY26 at checkout.
