Pabst Blue Ribbon and Grillo’s Pickles are partnering together on a new collab drink that might just be crazy enough to work: pickle beer.
Available in early May, PBR and Grillo’s will unveil its new Pickle Beer limited collab, which company officials said will bring “Grillo’s classic pickle from a garnish to the main event.”
The pickle-infused beer is described as easy drinking, and having the same malty flavor profile of PBR’s classic lager with a “crisp, dill-forward punch” that hearkens to Grillo’s brand pickle products.
Company reps say the new 4.7% ABV pickle beer will fit in perfectly at a backyard party or a summer beach day.

Pickle Beer brings together PBR’s more-than 175-year brewing history with Grillo’s 100-year-old family recipe. While the collaboration might sound strange on paper, both brands say they are rooted in decadeslong histories of doing things differently from their competitors.
“I don’t think the founder of Pabst saw this one coming. But somewhere along the line, someone put a pickle in a beer and never looked back,” said Rachel Keeton, brand director for the beer brewer. “We’re taking that ritual and making it official with Grillo’s. It’s exactly as good as it sounds.”

The chief commercial officer for Grillo’s says the collaboration between the two brands has been in the works for “quite some time,” and they are excited to see it become a reality.
“PBR has been a great partner, and this collaboration delivers a crisp, refreshing blend of both brands,” Mark Luker said. “We’re excited for beer and pickle lovers to try it.”
Where and when can you find Pickle Beer?
The beer will be available for purchase in select stores nationwide beginning May 4 while supplies last. Retailers include KwikTrip, Safeway, GoPuff, Publix, Albertsons and Walmart.
But before the limited time adult beverage is stocked on your local shelves, the new product branding can be found on the racetrack.
On April 21, during the NASCAR Cup Series Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, one undisclosed participating race car will be decked out in the shared Grillo’s and PBR branding to promote the upcoming release.
