Airbnb is venturing even further out from its overnight accommodations roots as the company continues to pivot toward a do-it-all experiences app.
The latest additions to Airbnb’s platform further expands its relatively new services functionality with some welcome additions for travelers.
On Wednesday, Airbnb announced four new services on its app that will make traveling to new places a bit easier with everything under one (metaphorical) roof.
The new services include grocery delivery, airport pickups, car rentals and luggage storage in select markets.

The grocery delivery service is customizable and allows Airbnb guests to have groceries delivered at any time during their stay, including ahead of time. In some cities, Airbnb hosts can even pre-stock the property before guests check in. The grocery delivery service is made possible through a partnership with Instacart and is available in more than 25 cities—Airbnb guests are also entitled to free delivery and $10 off on an order of $50 or more, the company said.
In addition to having a stocked pantry for their stay, Airbnb guests can also solve the hassle of landing in a new city without having to pay for an expensive Uber or try to navigate the city’s public transportation system.
Drivers booked through Airbnb can track the exact flight you arrive on and then meet you curbside for pickup… a big relief for every Los Angeles resident who’s ever been asked to pick up a friend or family member from LAX.
Airbnb said that service is available in more than 160 cities worldwide and guests with accommodations can get 20% every ride.
Travelers looking to explore the city but don’t want to lug around their bags from place to place can also use the Airbnb app to find places to drop off their luggage. The luggage storage service is available in 175 cities with more than 15,000 locations for dropoff and, again, users can get discounts through the platform.
And perhaps the biggest news of Airbnb’s summer announcement is the arrival of car renting services directly in app.
“Nearly a quarter of Airbnb guests rent a car during their stay,” Airbnb says. “We’ll show vehicles near your listing and suggest the right car for your group.”
Your first rental through Airbnb will also net you a 20% credit that you can put toward your next stay or custom experience.
Airbnb continues its experiential transformation
These new Airbnb services are part of the app’s continuing evolution. No longer is the portal designed with couch surfing in mind (although it remains an option) but rather one-of-a-kind stays that highlight the city itself instead of solely the rental property.

Last year, I attended Airbnb’s summer keynote address when CEO Brian Chesky announced the platform was adding experiences and services to round out its offerings.
The expansion added custom tailored experiences unique to the city and region that can be added to an existing reservation. Chesky highlighted a Ramen-making experience in Tokyo, motorcycle tours in Paris, and even a personal training session with masked luchadores in Mexico City.
Services could also be added to the reservation, including massage and personal trainer sessions at your rental, private chefs or professional photographers to meet you at local landmarks and document your trip.

These services and experiences have proven to be a big hit, Airbnb says, with guests leaving glowing reviews for the local experts providing them.
Now, following up on that success, Airbnb is adding even more options to the app, including exclusive activations related to next month’s FIFA World Cup.
“Join World Cup Champions Abby Wambach and Julie Foudy for an intimate watch party in LA as the USA takes on Australia. Or step onto the pitch to train with Argentine football icon and former manager of Inter Miami, Javier Mascherano,” Airbnb writes in its 2026 summer release.

Additionally, thousands of new experiences have been added to highlight city landmarks like the Taj Mahal or the Tower of London.
Food experiences are also growing, with Airbnb boasting more than 2,500 food culture detours that give guests behind-the-scenes access to chefs and restaurants.
“Through partnerships with Chef’s Table and Grand Central Market, you can join Chef Gianfranco Pascucci of the Michelin-starred Pascucci al Porticciolo in Rome for a 6-course food and wine pairing experience, or mix cocktails at Paris’s De Vie, one of the world’s best bars.”
Airbnb says it is also expanding the platform to include independent and boutique hotels that “feel like Airbnb” with price match protection and 15% credit when booking featured hotels that can be used on future stays.
To coincide with these new offerings, services and experiences, Airbnb is revamping its homepage and adding more AI-powered tools, including AI review highlights and rental comparisons. The app will also have more AI-powered customer support… your mileage may vary.

Airbnb connections, a feature that was rolled out last year and allowed users to connect with people they meet during their trips, remains a key component of the app’s future. Now users can add friends and family as connections and see which places they’ve visited and which experiences they’ve enjoyed. That feature is set to launch later this year.
The new services and experiences and boutique hotels are available for booking now, the company says. Car rentals, new homepage and a new shared itinerary feature will be available later this summer.
