Avianca plans to expand its U.S. schedule for summer travel, adding 42 weekly flights compared with July 2025 as demand rises for trips between the United States, Colombia, Ecuador and Central America.
The carrier said Thursday it will restore several seasonal routes, including Miami to Cali, New York to Pereira, Orlando to Medellín, Las Vegas to San Salvador and Chicago to San Salvador. It also plans to launch new nonstop service between San Francisco and Guatemala City in June.
The move increases Avianca’s footprint in a competitive U.S.-Latin America market, where airlines are chasing leisure travelers, visiting friends and relatives traffic, and summer sports-related demand.
“This summer, Avianca is taking the U.S. network to the next level by adding more flights on high-demand routes, giving travelers unprecedented flexibility and access to Latin America,” Rolando Damas, Avianca’s director of sales for North America, said in a statement.

He added that the airline aims to make nonstop travel “seamless and convenient,” linking passengers with destinations across the region.
Avianca currently serves 11 scheduled passenger destinations in the United States as of April. Those cities are Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Tampa and the Washington area via Dulles International Airport.
Florida remains the airline’s largest U.S. state presence, with service to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

Recent growth has included new Bogotá-linked service to Dallas-Fort Worth and Tampa. Miami to Guayaquil began in October, while San Francisco to Guatemala City is set to become one of the airline’s newest gateways when flights begin this summer.
