Brace yourself for what I’m about to say: summer is already one-third of the way over.
I know.
And while the end of summer will be here before you know it, there are a few things to look forward to.
One of those is the fall travel season, when some of the most beloved and sought-after international destinations experience an autumnal shift and once-crowded tourism hubs become more manageable for the average person or most introverted traveler.
On Thursday, trip-planning website Tripmasters released its list of Europe’s best fall escapes for 2026, to help you plan your next European fall vacation, whether you’re looking to avoid crowds or get better value for your dollar.
Tripmasters curated a list of multi-city fall itineraries that can take you from grape harvests in European vineyards to mountain foliage tours or world-famous festivals. The list was crafted to help travelers “make the most of Europe’s spectacular fall season.”

“Europe truly comes alive in the fall,” said Rudy Tan, Tripmasters head of marketing and social media. “Travelers can enjoy mild weather, vibrant festivals, and fewer crowds while exploring at their own pace.”
In addition to smaller crowds, Tripmasters says fall is among the best time to travel to Europe in large part because its milder weather allows for more sightseeing and outdoor adventures, it allows travelers to experience the region’s seasonal cuisine and harvest celebrations, and airfare and hotel rates tend to be lower than in summer.

Tripmasters released its five top vacation itineraries for those who want to take advantage of all the benefits that traveling during autumn affords. Here are their top recommendations…
Best European fall vacations for 2026
- Copenhagen & Amsterdam: Described as the “coziest” autumn escape in Europe, fall is widely considered one of the best times to visit Denmark and the Netherlands. In Copenhagen especially, the Danes’ laid-back hygge lifestyle offers a relaxed and comfortable alternative to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Both Amsterdam and Copenhagen are known for their cozy cafes and fall celebrations, including the Halloween celebration at the historic Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
- Munich, Salzburg, & Vienna By Train – This package allows you to experience Munich’s massive Oktoberfest and then enjoy the Alpine scenery as you take the train to your next destinations, including the world’s largest wine festival and Ludwigsburg’s s Pumpkin Festival.
- Italy Wine Regions – Experience Italy’s Vendemmia wine harvest with vineyard tours, wine tastings, and beautiful fall scenery. “Cooler temperatures also make it the perfect season to explore the Dolomites and enjoy seasonal food festivals throughout Emilia-Romagna,” Tripmasters says.
- Switzerland: Alpine Beauty and Brilliant Fall Colors – This package features the Basel, Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne, and Zurich by Train, offering a showcase of Switzerland’s iconic cities with scenic rail journeys through the mountainy region. “Beyond its natural beauty, the fall brings beloved local traditions including Lugano’s Fall Festival, Ticino’s Chestnut Festival, and Bern’s historic Onion Market.
- Southern Spain: Tripmasters describes Southern Spain during the fall time as “especially magical, with warm days, cooler evenings, and a lively cultural scene.” Beginning and ending in Madrid, with stops in Seville and Granada, travelers can experience the art of flamenco dance and the country’s rich Andalusian cuisine alongside perfect weather and plenty of Jamón Ibérico.
How does Tripmasters work?
Unlike most booking platforms, Tripmasters has standard travel itineraries that are fully customizable to maximize each person’s needs. They can be booked as a single total package and can include airfare, hotel reservations, train tickets or car rentals all for one price.
You can mix and match flights, adjust time spent in various cities, upgrade your accommodations or plan out activities during your trip. The company says you can build a vacation package with up to 12 different cities, all booked at once.

“[The itineraries] combine the convenience of professional planning with the freedom to travel your way,” Tan added.
I’ve used Tripmasters on multiple occasions and have personally appreciated the ease of use and its responsive customer service. While you might be able to get cheaper deals by shopping around or buying hotels and airfare separately, using Tripmasters certainly takes a lot of that headache out of the equation, especially for the less-seasoned traveler.
Worth noting, this is not a sponsored post. I just like the product.
