A new category of maritime travel is scheduled to debut in 2028 with a vessel described as the “world’s first luxury expedition sailing yacht.” The vessel is the first of its kind for Atlas Ocean Voyages, a luxury cruise line that currently operates three motorized ships. A luxury cruise line plans to open a new private island destination in the Bahamas in 2028 that is exclusive to its guests and passengers. Sandy Cay is the latest private island getaway from Switzerland-based MSC Cruises, which will offer exclusive excursions to guests aboard its cruises and its subsidiary’s, Explora Journeys. MSC Cruises also owns and operates a nearby private island called the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, which opened in 2019 in a rehabilitated and restored former industrial site. Amtrak is taking its first steps in acquiring brand new long-haul trains to replace its aging fleet. On Wednesday, Amtrak announced that it had begun soliciting bids for manufacturers to build and deliver more than 800 new rail cars across 14 of the agency’s long-distance routes.
