Princess Cruises begins sales for 2028 Alaska season

Travis SchleppBy Travis SchleppAugust 11, 20263 Mins Read

Princess Cruises has begun selling spots for its upcoming 2028 sailing season in Alaska, which the cruise line says will feature 185 departures aboard eight different ships and 14 unique itineraries.

Among the ships available for reservations in 2028 is Princess Cruises’ newest and most luxurious cruise ship to date, the Sphere-class Star Princess.

Other ships include the Discovery Princess, Emerald Princess and Royal Princess, officials said.

Length of sailings will range from four days to 16 days, and trips will set sail from port cities including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Anchorage and Vancouver, British Columbia.

“Alaska is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations, and Princess has spent nearly 60 years helping guests experience it in a way few others can,” Princess Cruises Chief Commercial Officer Jim Berra said in a news release. “Our 2028 season brings together glacier-filled voyages, unforgettable wildlife and cultural experiences, Princess Wilderness Lodges and Rail, along with seamless cruisetours that take guests deeper into the Great Land – creating a complete Alaska vacation.”

What does a Princess Cruises Alaska trip feature?

Those wildlife and cultural experiences Berra mentions includes visits to Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway, with scenic cruises available through four of Alaska’s most famous glacier regions, including Glacier Bay National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and “one of Alaska’s most sought-after experiences.”

Princess, which has been sailing to and from Alaska for nearly six decades, also offers exclusive land-based “cruisetours” that include stays in a number of Princess-branded wilderness lodges that company officials say take travelers “beyond the coastline and into the heart of Alaska.”

The different itineraries and packages are staggering and vary widely. Some are geared for experienced Alaska visitors and cruise veterans, while others are designed more for first-timers. Some include relaxing train rides, others with breathtaking helicopter tours—there are too many possible options and combinations to list, in my opinion.

But cruise line officials say each package, from the quick jaunt to the two-week excursion, include experiences that will immerse travelers in the culture of Alaska and build a greater affinity for the pristine wilderness and wildlife that call the 49th State home.

In addition to its Alaska schedule, Princess Cruises also sails to the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Europe, Hawaii, Antarctica, and more destinations across the globe.
